Children, Youth, and Family Ministry Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY: To serve St. Barnabas Episcopal Church as the The Children, Youth, and Family Ministry Coordinator. To inspire and communicate effectively with volunteers regarding curriculum, details, and expectations for a variety of programs (listed below). To serve as resource with regard to curriculum and programming options that would enhance particular programs or the overall ministry of Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church.

We’ve also found something bigger than ourselves – a way to grow a deeper relationship with God. Saint Barnabas is a group of people who come together to share the hope found in Christ Jesus to the world around us.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Children, Youth, and Family Ministry Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Sunday School and other Children, Youth and Family Ministry programs at Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church. This includes: planning, coordinating, and managing the details of all programs and events, curriculum implementation, supply purchasing, organization, and preparations, and communication with volunteers, youth, and families. The Children’s Ministry Coordinator works in close cooperation with the Rector.

Oversight of the following programs
• Weekly or Regularly Scheduled Events: Sunday School, Youth Groups, Acolytes, and Nursery
• Periodic Events: Vacation Bible School, Children’s Missions, Youth Confirmation Class, First Communion Class, Shrove Tuesday Dinner, Youth Sunday, Christmas Pageant, Family fellowship events, and Inter-generational programs
• Liaison for the following programs: Mother’s Morning Off, Diocesan Camps and Conferences, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and 4-H

• Manage budget for programs listed above
• Manage calendar planning for programs listed above
• Manage publicity content and deadlines for programs listed above, including: newsletter, website, bulletin announcements, fliers, brochures, emails, social media, etc.

Meetings and Presence on Campus
• Attend staff meetings
• Attend staff training events; seek out opportunities for continuing education
• Presence required on campus – including Sunday mornings (some work can be done at home)

Minimum Qualifications
• Unqualified commitment to the highest ideals of the Christian faith, of the Episcopal Church and the mission, vision, and purpose of Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church
• Must be outgoing, energetic, Spirit-led, self-starting person who demonstrates an ability to be engaged in Children’s Ministry
• Servant attitude.
• Works well with others
• Excellent organizational skills: plans ahead, coordinates differing schedules gracefully, attends well to details.
• Knowledge of computer digital media
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Anticipates and meets deadlines
