Giving is an act of worship.

In the liturgy there is a great picture of how our giving is a joyful part of our worship life as a church. It’s called the offertory, where our gifts are brought forward in response to the lavish generosity of God by the gift of His son, Jesus Christ. As recipients of this gift we sing “praise God from whom all blessing flow!” and offer ourselves as living sacrifices—all of us—given back to the Lord with gratitude.

At St. Barnabas, generosity is part of following Jesus. We never talk about it with pressure or guilt, but always with a peaceful invitation. Our community practices tithing, or sacrificial giving, as an outworking of God forming a non-anxious, generous, and abundant heart within us.

What are those tokens on Sunday?

To help symbolize your online giving in this act of worship, we've provided small wooden tokens at the welcome table in the narthex that you can put in the offering basket as it comes by.
